On May 21, the memorial day of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, Priest Georgy Sergeyev, responsible for the care of Russian-speaking believers in the territory of the Republic of Turkey, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the church at the burial site of the holy apostle in the Turkish town of Selcuk near Ephesus.
During the Liturgy, pilgrims from Istanbul, Izmir, Kusadasi, Sakarya, Kocaeli and Didim prayed and received communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
At the special litany, special petitions were offered and a prayer for Holy Russia was read.
At the end of the Liturgy, Father George delivered a sermon. The priest also thanked the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism for allowing the service, and the Solzhenitsyn Russian Society of Culture and its chairman Alexander Ponomarev for their help in organizing the pilgrimage of believers.
