On June 10, 2023, a delegation of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage, headed by Executive Director Egor Skopenko, visited the Aleppo Metropolis of the Antiochian Orthodox Church.
In the city of Aleppo, representatives of the Foundation were received by Metropolitan Ephraim of Aleppo and Alexandretta. Archimandrite Philip, the representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, also took part in the meeting. During the meeting, Metropolitan Ephraim of Aleppo expressed special gratitude to the Russian Orthodox Church and the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage for their assistance in implementing joint activities.
In addition, the parties discussed current problems, as well as issues of further cooperation and assistance in the restoration of various objects of the diocesan structure affected after the earthquake on February 6, 2023.
At the end of the meeting, the Foundation delegation presented Metropolitan Ephraim with sets of priestly and diaconal vestments, as well as two silver Eucharistic sets for the needs of the Aleppo Metropolis.
Then the guests of the metropolis visited the building of the metochion of the Antiochian Orthodox Church in Aleppo, the Cathedral of St. Elijah, as well as the former administrative building of the Antiochian Patriarchate, affected by the earthquake.
Currently, these facilities are being restored by the forces of the Antiochian Orthodox Church. In the future, with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Great Antioch and All the East, at the request of Metropolitan Ephraim and in coordination with the Board of the Foundation, financial support will also be provided for the restoration of these facilities.
