On June 13, 2023, His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Great Antioch and All the East received a delegation of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage headed by Executive Director Egor Skopenko.
The meeting was also attended by Archimandrite Philip, representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, A.V. Efimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Syrian Arab Republic, T.A. Bokov, First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Syria, and O.I. Popkov, Second Secretary of the Embassy, Denis Shamilov, Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of further cooperation for 2023 and prospects for cooperation in 2024. The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch thanked the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Orthodox Church and the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage for their assistance. His Beatitude Patriarch John also expressed hope for further cooperation with the Foundation. At the end of the meeting, Yegor Skopenko presented His Beatitude the Patriarch with an icon of the Holy Trinity.
After the reception with His Beatitude Patriarch, the Foundation delegation inspected the building of the Russian Orthodox Church Compound in Damascus, which is planned to be restored with the assistance of the Foundation.
In addition, the delegation members visited the Children's Rehabilitation and Prosthetics Center in Damascus, officially opened with the participation of the Foundation in 2022. The guests from the Foundation, having familiarized themselves with the current state of the Center, highly appreciated the results of the work and discussed with the management of the Center the issue of financing its activities for 2023.
