On June 30, 2024, a presentation of the liturgical collection published by the book publishing house of the Korean Diocese was held at the Church of the Resurrection in Seoul. The liturgical book is a collection of the rites of the main church services. According to the composition of the sequences included in the collection, it can be attributed to one of the oldest liturgical books – the Book of Hours, however, it is not a Book of Hours as such, since in addition to the usual sequences included in it, there are other most frequently used sequences and prayer books in this book. In particular, this is the following of the memorial service, prayers before and after Holy Communion, as well as the following of the Divine Liturgy.
The peculiarity of this collection is that all the sequences are presented in parallel in Korean and Slavic languages, which makes it convenient to use when performing divine services simultaneously in two languages, as is most often the case in the temples of the Korean diocese at the present time.
The work on the translation of liturgical texts into Korean continued for several years and is a joint work of Archbishop Theophan of Korea, Hieromonk Paul (Choi) and Hierodeacon Nectary (Lima). The publication of the book was made possible thanks to the help of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage, the press service of the Korean Diocese reports.
