On March 30, the signing of an agreement on the publication of a textbook on the Russian language as a foreign language (RKI) in the specialty "Theology" took place at the museum of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy (SPbDA). The agreement was signed by Bishop Siluan of Peterhof, Rector of St. Petersburg State University, and Anna Golubeva, editor-in-chief of the Zlatoust Educational and Publishing Center.
The publication of the textbook will be possible thanks to the financial assistance of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage.
Speaking to the participants, Bishop Silouan emphasized that the Academy's publishing activities are an integral part of its mission.
The textbook was developed by a team of authors bringing together specialists in the field of Russian Orthodox Science and theology: M. Y. Sidorova, I. D. Ivanov, V. E. Chumirina, K. V. Norkin.
The textbook is based on a combination of the principles of frequency and methodological expediency, which makes it possible to effectively introduce into teaching the professional vocabulary and grammar necessary for the study of theological disciplines. At the same time, special attention is paid to live communication, as well as linguistic and cultural adaptation of students.
A distinctive feature of the textbook is:
- systematic introduction of theological vocabulary, taking into account the actual speech practice of students;
- a combination of general and professional language, allowing you to adapt to the academic environment of the theological school;
- rich illustrative material and additional tasks for inclusion in the life of the church community.
The textbook has already been tested among international students of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy and has received positive feedback. It is designed for 120 hours of classes and allows you to complete the course by the end of the academic year, developing not only language competence, but also an understanding of theological and cultural meanings.
The signing ceremony was attended by the authors of the textbook, M. Y. Sidorova, I. D. Ivanov, V. E. Chumirina, Archpriest Dimitri Sizonenko, Head of the International Department of the St. Petersburg Orthodox Church, and Dmitry Rudkovsky, Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage.
The participants of the meeting expressed confidence that the publication of this textbook would be an important step in teaching Russian as the language of theology and spiritual heritage.
