From October 13 to 16, 2022, the staff of the Moscow Architectural Institute (MARKHI) visited the monument of ancient Georgian architecture, the historical monastery of the VII century – Atensky Zion in the village of Ateni, Gori district.
During the trip, representatives of the MARHA got acquainted in detail with the history and unique architecture of the temple, wall paintings and lapidary inscriptions of different centuries, video and photography were carried out.
In addition, the specialists of the MARHA met with the inhabitants of the monastery and received the blessing of the ruling bishop – Metropolitan Andrew. The historical, architectural and other research issues of this ancient monastery complex were also discussed.
