Russian Russian Language and Culture Association named after A.I. Solzhenitsyn with the support of the Russian Orthodox Church hosted the children's camp "Pilgrim" for the third time on August 15-25, 2023 in the vicinity of the city of Yalova near the coast of the Marmara Sea in Turkey.
This year, more than 60 boys and girls have become participants in the project.
Russian Russian language and culture, the basics of the Orthodox Faith were studied by the children, engaged in general physical training, learned to provide first aid, practiced archery, orienteering, participated in mini-hikes. A theater workshop was traditionally organized in the camp, where the children studied the basics of public speaking and acting.
Among those vacationing in the "Pilgrim" were not only the children of compatriots living in Turkey, but also children from Turkish families. The winners of the X anniversary children's drawing contest "Easter Miracle" also took part in the work of the camp.
On August 25, the priest responsible for the care of the faithful of the Moscow Patriarchate in the territory of the Republic of Turkey, Georgy Sergeyev, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Pilgrim. After the service, the priest held a conversation with the children and answered their questions.
At the closing ceremony of the camp, Father George and the chairman of the Russian Society in Izmir, A. Ponomarev, presented each pupil with a certificate of participation in the work of the Pilgrim and a memorable gift – a published album with drawings on evangelical themes made by the winners of the Easter Miracle contest over the past decade.
