A delegation of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage, led by Executive Director Egor Skopenko, took part in a solemn event dedicated to the four-year anniversary of the Msana Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in Damascus. The Center was officially opened in March 2022 with the participation of the Foundation.
The event was attended by Patriarch John X of Antioch and clergymen of the Antiochian Patriarchate, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations, Evgeny Kozlov, Charge d'affaires of the Russian Federation in Syria, a delegation from the Foundation, Colonel Andrei Bodredinov, Defense attache at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as representatives of the Syrian administration..
During the event, Patriarch John expressed his deep gratitude to the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage represented by Egor Skopenko for his invaluable contribution and assistance in opening and financing the Center's activities. As a sign of special appreciation, Patriarch John presented Egor Skopenko with an icon of the Mother of God, and the executive director of the Foundation, in turn, presented the Patriarch of Antioch with an icon of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
At the end of the festive event, the Foundation's delegation went to the Orthodox church of the Prophet of God Elijah in Damascus, where on June 22, 2025, during Sunday worship, a suicide bomber opened fire on worshippers, after which he committed suicide. As a result of the terrorist attack that day, 25 people were killed and more than 60 were injured.
