With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, work has now begun on the interior decoration of the church in the form of a program of monumental frescoes in one of the recently erected temples of the Russian Orthodox Church in the far abroad – the Cathedral of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene in Madrid.
A team of talented and experienced icon painters has developed a unique project with original iconography in the style of ancient Russian painting, dedicated to the history of the development of Christianity in Spain in the first millennium. The project was reviewed and approved by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, the website of the Spanish-Portuguese Diocese reports.
