A delegation of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage, led by Executive Director Egor Skopenko, arrived in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, on January 26, 2025.
In the afternoon, representatives of the Foundation, together with the Chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest George Maximov, visited the Kason Orthodox orphanage in Yaounde, which houses 68 children aged 7 to 17 years.
The Foundation has financed the rent for the main and additional premises, the children's meals, and is also financing the purchase of office supplies for a year. However, the most acute problem at the moment is the lack of its own water supply: there are constant interruptions in the urban well, and water may be absent for several days. In this regard, the Foundation plans to provide financial assistance in drilling its own well for the shelter.
The representatives of the delegation got acquainted with the living conditions of the children and gave them memorable gifts and sweets, and the children of the orphanage, in turn, prepared a festive performance on the occasion of the arrival of the guests.
On the morning of January 27, the delegation met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cameroon Georgy Todua and Embassy Attache Vasily Alekseev. During the conversation, the parties discussed the current situation and prospects of Orthodoxy in Cameroon.
